It’s finally summer and it’s super hot out! So I wanted to share two of my favorite summer time treats!
ORANGE FRUIT CUPS
Ingredients:
Oranges & what ever kind of fruit you like!
My go to fruit choices for these summer time treats are strawberries and cantaloupe. But you can use just about any kind of fruit to fill these little cups. Blueberries, blackberries, & grapes would also be a great addition!
WHAT TO DO:
- Wash oranges
- Cut the oranges in half
- Scoop out the inside of the orange, also called the endocarp
(Did you know that was what the inside of an orange is called?! I did not!)
- Wash off the orange halves and scrap out any left over endocarp
- Cut your fruit of choice
- Then place your cut fruit or berries into the orange halves and voila!
So what do you do with all of the endocarp you scooped out? I like to blend the orange slices in fruit smoothies. And of course, add an orange garnish for flare!
BACKSTORY:
I first served these orange fruit treats to guests back in 2010. I was planning a football themed baby shower and I wanted to incorporate the food into the decor. Since fruit is a great snack during football practice I thought it would be a fun way to tie in aspects of sports for the guests to enjoy and get to eat!
